'Exploring artistic expression thru drawing, painting and collage' exhibit, December 18

I will be teaching my last art lesson with in-patients of Reno's Veterans' Affairs and will showcase all their art on December 18 at 2pm.

During my lessons, which began in October and have been taking place once a week, I introduce Veterans to the natural craft of art to find personal artistic expression in color, form and light. We are working with foraged organic matter including berries and leaves, using upcycled materials such as cardboard and ceramics, and making our own dough, glue and canvases.

This course is made possible thanks to a Creative Aging grant from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.

'Art with Nature' exhibit, through December 23

My exhibit of artwork made with the children of Desert Peach Montessori is on at Reno's McKinley Center, Monday to Thursday, 9am till 4pm. Come visit and celebrate making art with nature!

My aim with these lessons has been to give more opportunities for children to be outside, enjoy their natural environment, and discover the myriad of ways they can be creative with it, and at the same time respectful and connected with it. Healthy, happy, free and creative children are the best investment for everyone's present and future.

This exhibit is made possible thanks to a grant from a generous local patron, who funded my Art with Nature lessons at the school.
